How to calculate your GPA
- Enter each course with its credits and the letter grade you earned or expect. Use "Add course" for more rows.
- Tick "Weighted GPA" if your school adds points for honors or AP/IB courses, and set the level of each course.
- Read your semester GPA. To get a cumulative GPA, add your earlier GPA and credits.
- Use the percentage box and the table to convert a numeric score to a letter grade.
Leave the credits empty to skip a row. Planning ahead works well: change a grade to see how much it moves your GPA before the term ends.
Questions
Are my grades saved or uploaded?
No. Your courses and grades stay in this page and are worked out in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere, and closing the tab clears them.
How is GPA calculated?
Each grade is turned into points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, and so on), multiplied by the course credits, and added up. That total is divided by the total credits. A 4-credit A and a 2-credit C give (4 × 4.0 + 2 × 2.0) ÷ 6 = 3.33.
What is a weighted GPA?
A weighted GPA adds a bonus to harder courses, commonly 0.5 for honors and 1.0 for AP or IB, so a B in an AP class counts as 4.0. This tool only adds the bonus to passing grades. Your school may use different bonuses, so check its policy.
How do I work out my cumulative GPA?
Fill in your GPA and credits from earlier terms. The tool combines them with the courses above, weighting each term by its credits.
Will this match my school exactly?
It uses the common US 4.0 scale with plus and minus grades. Some schools give an A+ 4.3 points, skip minus grades, or use other cut-offs, so treat the result as a close estimate.
