How to convert a salary

  1. Enter the amount you are paid and choose whether it is hourly, daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, or yearly.
  2. Set your hours per week, days per week, and weeks paid per year.
  3. Read the same pay in every period in the table.
  4. Optionally add your paid days off to see the hourly rate for the hours you actually work.

Overtime, bonuses, and tax are not included. The defaults are a 40-hour week over 52 weeks, which you can change for part-time or shift work.

Questions

Is my salary stored or sent anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded or saved.

Does this calculate tax or take-home pay?

No. It only converts between pay periods, so all figures are gross, before tax and other deductions. Tax rules depend on where you live and your situation, so use a tax calculator for your region for net pay.

How do you convert hourly pay to a yearly salary?

Yearly pay = hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year. At 25 an hour, 40 hours a week, and 52 weeks, that is 25 × 40 × 52 = 52,000.

What should I enter for weeks per year and paid days off?

Keep 52 weeks if your holidays and vacation are paid. Enter fewer weeks if you take unpaid time. The "paid days off" box does not change the totals; it shows the hourly rate for the hours you actually work, which is higher.

Why is the monthly figure not weekly pay × 4?

A year has about 4.33 weeks per month. Monthly pay here is the yearly figure divided by 12, and biweekly pay is two weeks of weekly pay.
