How to open an SQLite database
- Drop a .sqlite, .db, or .sqlite3 file onto the page, or choose one.
- Pick a table to browse its rows page by page, or switch to Structure to see its columns and CREATE statement.
- Use the SQL query view to run SELECT statements, then export a table or a query result as CSV or JSON.
Views are listed next to tables. Internal tables such as sqlite_sequence are hidden from the list, but you can still query them with SQL. BLOB values are shown as their size instead of raw bytes.
Questions
Is my database uploaded?
No. The file is read by your browser and opened by SQLite compiled to WebAssembly. It never leaves your device, and the page makes no requests with your data.
Can I edit the database?
No. The viewer is read-only: statements that would change data (INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, DROP) are refused, and your file is never modified. Use the export buttons to take data out as CSV or JSON.
How big a file can it open?
The whole file is loaded into memory, so it depends on your device. Files of a few hundred megabytes usually work on a desktop. On a phone, stay under about 100 MB.
Which files does it open?
Any SQLite 3 database, whatever the extension: .sqlite, .sqlite3, .db, .db3, and so on. Encrypted databases (such as SQLCipher) cannot be read.
Why does a query show only the first 5,000 rows?
Keeping every row of a huge result in the page would slow your browser down. Add a LIMIT or a WHERE clause, or use the Rows view and the table export for the full data.
