How to convert data between formats

  1. Paste your data into the left box, or press "Open file". The format is detected for you.
  2. Choose the format you want under "To". Adjust indent, delimiter, or other options if you need them.
  3. Copy the result, or download it as a file. "Swap input and output" moves the result to the left to convert back.

Tables (CSV, TSV, Markdown, HTML, SQL INSERT, and JSON Lines) need a list of records. If your JSON, XML, or YAML wraps the list in a single key, such as {"users": [...]}, the tool finds it. Nested values are flattened into columns such as address.city, and lists inside a record are kept as JSON text in one cell.

Questions

Is my data uploaded?

No. Every conversion runs in your browser, so customer lists, API responses, and config files never leave your device.

How do I convert CSV to JSON, or JSON to CSV?

Paste the CSV, or open the file, and leave "To" on JSON. For the other way, paste the JSON and pick CSV. The tool detects commas, semicolons, and tabs. Nested JSON becomes columns with dotted names such as address.city.

How does YAML to JSON, XML to JSON, or TOML to JSON work?

The input is read into plain data (objects, lists, text, numbers) and written out in the format you choose. XML attributes appear with an @_ prefix, and text next to attributes is stored as #text, so converting back keeps them.

What happens when the input has a mistake?

You get the line and column of the problem for JSON, YAML, XML, TOML, and JSON Lines, or the row for CSV. Fix that spot and the result updates as you type.

Which formats can the tool detect?

With "From" on Auto-detect it recognizes JSON, JSON Lines, YAML, CSV, TSV, XML, TOML, and Markdown tables from the content or the file name. If a short snippet is guessed wrong, pick the format yourself.
