How to convert and view an Excel file
- Drop an XLSX, XLS, ODS, CSV, or JSON file onto the page, or paste CSV or JSON text.
- Scroll through the table, switch sheets, search, sort, and fix any cell by selecting it and pressing Enter.
- Choose the format under "Convert to" and press Download, or copy the text for CSV, JSON, HTML, and Markdown.

Questions
Is my spreadsheet uploaded?
No. The file is opened and converted by your browser, in a background thread. It never leaves your device, and nothing is stored once you close the page.
Which files can I open?
XLSX, XLSM, XLSB, XLS (old Excel), ODS (OpenDocument, from LibreOffice), CSV, TSV, and JSON files that contain a list of objects or rows. Files with a password cannot be opened; remove the password in Excel first.
Will formulas and formatting survive?
When you convert a spreadsheet to XLSX, XLS, or ODS without editing cells, the original workbook is written back, so formulas, number formats, and every sheet are kept. Text formats (CSV, JSON, HTML, Markdown) hold the values as Excel shows them; formulas become their results and styling such as colors is dropped.
What happens with workbooks that have several sheets?
Pick a sheet from the list to view it. CSV, JSON, HTML, and Markdown exports use the sheet you are viewing, or you can download all sheets as a ZIP with one file per sheet. XLSX, XLS, and ODS exports always contain every sheet.
Why does a number like 007 stay text in JSON?
Values that look like plain numbers are written as numbers in JSON and spreadsheets. Values with leading zeros, such as zip codes and product codes, are kept as text so nothing is lost.
