How to add page numbers to a PDF

  1. Choose a PDF, or drop it onto the box.
  2. Pick where the numbers go, the format (such as "Page 1 of 10"), the first number, and the size.
  3. Press Add page numbers to download the numbered copy.

Use "Start at" when the PDF is one part of a longer document, for example a chapter that begins on page 37.

Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Numbers are added in your browser and the file never leaves your device.

Can I leave the cover page without a number?

Yes. Turn on "No number on the first page". Numbering then starts on page two with the number you choose, so a cover plus chapter can start at 1.

Does it change the rest of the document?

No. Only the page number is added on top of each page. Text stays selectable and links keep working.

What happens on rotated or landscape pages?

The number is placed and turned to match how the page is shown, so it always reads the right way up in the chosen corner.
