How to make a barcode
- Choose the barcode type. An example value is filled in for you.
- Type your own content. If it does not fit the type, the tool tells you what is allowed.
- Adjust bar width and height, then download PNG or SVG.
For EAN and UPC codes you can type the number without its last digit; the check digit is calculated and added automatically. Test-print a label and scan it with your phone before printing a large batch.
Questions
Which barcode type should I use?
For products sold in shops, use EAN-13 (or UPC-A in North America) with the number from your GS1 membership. For your own labels, stock, and shipping, Code 128 is the most flexible choice.
Can I make a real product barcode here?
You can draw the barcode, but the number itself must come from GS1 for products sold in retail stores. Made-up EAN or UPC numbers may clash with real products.
PNG or SVG?
SVG stays perfectly sharp at any size and is best for printing and design tools. The PNG is drawn at four times screen size, which prints well on labels.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The barcode is drawn in your browser.
