How to convert HEIC to JPG
- Choose your HEIC photos, or drop them onto the box.
- Pick JPG or PNG and the quality.
- Press Convert. One photo downloads directly; several come as a ZIP file.
Decoding uses libheif, an open-source HEIF library, which loads once (about 1.5 MB) the first time you convert.
Questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (or HEIF) is the photo format iPhones and many Android phones use by default. It is smaller than JPG, but Windows, many websites, and older apps cannot open it.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The photos are decoded and converted inside your browser. That matters for personal photos: they never leave your device.
Will the quality drop?
At "High" the difference is not visible. Choose PNG if you need a lossless copy, for example for editing, though PNG files are much larger.
How do I stop my iPhone from saving HEIC?
Open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose "Most Compatible". New photos are then saved as JPG. Photos you send by email or AirDrop to a computer are often converted automatically too.
Is the photo location kept?
No. The converted file does not include metadata such as GPS location or camera details.
