How to split an image into a grid

  1. Choose an image.
  2. Pick a quick layout such as 1 × 3 or 3 × 3, enter your own rows and columns, or switch to tile size in pixels.
  3. Check the cut lines on the preview.
  4. Choose a format and press Download to get a ZIP of tiles.

For a 3 × 3 Instagram grid of 4:5 posts, crop your picture to 4:5 first (Crop, Rotate & Flip Image can do it), so each tile comes out 4:5. Tile file names include the row and column.

Questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is cut into pieces in your browser tab, and the ZIP is created on your device.

How do I make an Instagram grid?

Choose 3 × 3, and set Number the files to Instagram posting order. Upload the tiles in numeric order, starting with 01, because Instagram shows the newest post first and puts the last one at the top left.

What if the size does not divide evenly?

In Rows and columns mode, tiles differ by at most one pixel. In tile size mode, the tiles on the right and bottom edges are smaller to cover the rest of the image.

Do the tiles lose quality?

PNG tiles are lossless. JPG and WebP are compressed when saved. The pixels are cut from the original, not scaled.

Is there a limit on tiles?

Up to 400 tiles per image. The work is done tile by tile, with a progress bar and a Cancel button.
