How to edit PDF metadata

  1. Choose a PDF. Its current properties appear in the form.
  2. Change any field, or switch to Remove all metadata to wipe them.
  3. Press Save PDF to download the updated copy. Your original file is untouched.

Leave a field empty to delete it from the file. Dates use your local time zone.

Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The properties are read and changed in your browser and the file never leaves your device.

What is PDF metadata?

It is information stored with the file but not shown on the pages: title, author, subject, keywords, the program that made it, and the dates it was created and changed. Search results and PDF readers often show it.

Why remove metadata before sharing a PDF?

The author field can contain your full name or your company, and the creator and producer fields show which software you used. Removing it gives away less when you send a file outside your team.

What is the XMP block?

Many programs store a second copy of the properties in a format called XMP. Some readers show that copy instead of the standard fields, so this tool can remove it when you save.

Does editing change the pages?

No. Only the properties change. Text, images, links, and forms stay exactly as they were.
