How to remove the background from a photo
- Choose a photo. The first time, wait while the model downloads.
- The subject is found automatically. Check the result, and use the Before / after view to compare.
- Adjust Cut-off, Edge softness, or Feather if the outline is not right.
- Leave the background transparent, or fill it with white, a colour, or another image, then press Download.
Save as PNG or WebP to keep the transparency. JPG fills the empty area with white. Very large photos are handled at full size when you download, while the preview works on a smaller copy so the sliders stay quick.

Is my photo uploaded?
No. A small AI model runs inside your browser tab, so the photo never leaves your device. The only downloads are the model and its engine from this site, about 19 MB the first time and cached after that.
Why is the first run slow?
Your browser has to download the model and the WebAssembly engine once. After that they come from your cache and a photo takes a few seconds.
What kind of photos work best?
Photos with one clear subject, such as a person, product, or pet, on a background that differs from it. The model is small and fast rather than perfect, so fine hair, glass, and cluttered scenes may need the edge sliders.
How do I fix a rough edge or leftover background?
Raise Cut-off to remove leftover background and lower it to bring back parts of the subject. Edge softness and Feather smooth the outline. Use the Before / after view to check your changes.
Can I use the result commercially?
The tool and the model (U2-Net, Apache-2.0) allow commercial use, and the result is your photo with a different background. Check that you have the rights to the photo itself.
