How to generate placeholder text
- Choose what to generate: paragraphs, sentences, words, or list items, and type how many you need.
- Keep “Start with Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet” on for the familiar opening line, or turn it off for fully random text.
- Pick plain text or HTML, then press Copy text. Press Generate again for a fresh version.
Use words to fill a headline or a button label to an exact length, sentences for captions, and paragraphs for body copy. List items work well for menus and feature lists. Placeholder text is for mockups: replace it before a page goes live.
Questions
Is anything uploaded or stored?
No. The text is made by a small script running in your browser. There is no server involved, and nothing you generate is sent or saved anywhere.
What is Lorem ipsum?
It is scrambled Latin that designers and developers use as stand-in text, so a layout can be judged without the distraction of real words. The vocabulary comes from a passage by Cicero written in 45 BC.
Will I get the same text every time?
Changing the options keeps the same random pattern, so the text stays steady while you adjust the count. Press “Generate again” to get a new random arrangement of the words.
Can I get HTML with paragraph or list tags?
Yes. Switch Output to HTML to wrap each paragraph in <p> tags, or each list item in <li> inside a <ul>. Sentences and words come out as a single <p>.
