How to translate Morse code
- Type text in the left box to get Morse code, or type dots and dashes in the right box to read the text. Both boxes stay in sync.
- Choose the speed in words per minute and the pitch of the tone, then press Play to hear it. Turn on Blink light to watch it as a signal lamp.

A dot is one short signal and a dash lasts three times as long. The gap between letters is three dots long and the gap between words is seven, which is how the playback is timed.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The translation, the sound, and the WAV file are all made in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
How do I write Morse code so it translates back?
Use a dot (.) and a dash (-) for each signal, a single space between letters, and a slash (/) between words. Look-alike symbols such as • and − are accepted too. Anything that is not a known Morse letter shows as a question mark.
How fast is 15 WPM?
Speed is counted with the standard word “PARIS”, which takes 50 time units. At 15 words per minute one dot lasts 80 milliseconds. Beginners often start at 5 to 10 WPM, and amateur radio operators commonly work at 15 to 25 WPM.
Which characters does it support?
The letters A to Z, digits 0 to 9, and common punctuation such as . , ? ! / ( ) & : ; = + - _ " $ and @. Accented letters are turned into their plain letter. Characters with no Morse code, such as emoji, are left out and listed above the sound controls.
Can I use the audio file for something else?
Yes. Download WAV saves the beeps at the speed and pitch you chose as a plain audio file you can use in a video, a game, or a puzzle. The blinking light is only shown on screen and is not part of the file.
