What to generate

Names are made up from common first and last names of the chosen region. Any match with a real person is a coincidence.

    How to generate random names

    1. Choose real names, usernames, or fantasy names, and how many you want.
    2. Adjust the options: language and gender for real names, separator, capitals, and numbers for usernames, or the style for fantasy names.
    3. Press Generate again until you like the list, then copy it all or download it as a text file.

Real names are handy for test data, sign-up forms in demos, and placeholder content. For whole records with emails and addresses, use the fake data generator.

    Questions

Is anything sent to a server?

No. Names are made in your browser from data that ships with the page. Only the language you pick is loaded, and nothing you do is recorded or uploaded.

    Are the names real people?

No. First and last names are drawn separately from lists of common names for the region you choose, so a full name is a random pairing. A match with someone real is a coincidence.

    Which languages are available?

English (US and UK), German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Swedish, Czech, Turkish, Russian, Ukrainian, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. Names appear in the native script of that language.

Will a generated username be available on a site?

There is no way to check that from here. Names are built from word combinations plus optional numbers, which makes clashes less likely than a plain word, but always try the name on the site you want to use it on.

What are the fantasy names for?

Characters in games, stories, and tabletop role-playing: elf, dwarf, orc, human, and fairy styles, each with its own sounds and family-name patterns. They are made up, so they are free to use anywhere.
