How to resize a video

  1. Drop a video on the box. A preview of the resized result appears.
  2. Choose Resolution for a size such as 1080p or 720p, Social media for a ready-made shape, or Custom size for exact pixels.
  3. For social and custom sizes, pick how the picture fills the frame: bars, a blurred background, or a crop.
  4. Press Resize and save video and download the result.

The preview is drawn with the same code that makes the saved file, so the blurred background and the crop look the same in both. Sizes are rounded down to even numbers, which video formats require.

Questions

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is read, resized, and saved inside this browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server.

What should I choose to post a landscape video on Instagram or TikTok?

Pick Social media, choose Instagram Reels and Stories or TikTok, and set the shape to Fit, blurred background. The whole picture stays visible in the middle and a soft copy of it fills the empty space. Fill crops the edges instead.

What is the difference between fit and fill?

Fit keeps the whole picture and adds bars or a blurred background where the shape differs. Fill zooms in until the frame is full, which crops the edges. Stretch squeezes the picture to the new shape, which distorts it.

Will making a video smaller reduce its file size?

Usually yes, because there are fewer pixels to store. Making a video larger only makes the file bigger without adding detail. For a size target in megabytes, use the Video Compressor.

Which formats are supported?

You can open MP4, MOV, WebM, and MKV files that your browser can play, and save the result as MP4 or WebM.
