How to change the speed of a video
- Drop a video on the box. The preview plays at the speed you choose.
- Pick Speed up or slow down and choose a speed, or pick Timelapse for very fast results.
- Keep the sound with its original pitch, or uncheck it to remove the sound.
- Press Change speed and save and download the result.
The preview only shows how it will move; the saved file is made from the original frames. For a clip that sounds natural, stay between 0.5 times and 2 times.
Questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is read, changed, and saved inside this browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server.
Will the voices sound like chipmunks when I speed it up?
No. With Keep the sound checked, the audio is time-stretched so it gets faster or slower while the pitch stays the same. Very fast or very slow speeds still sound a little rough, because the sound is stretched by a simple method.
What is the difference between speed and timelapse?
Speed mode changes how fast everything plays, from 0.25 times to 4 times, and can keep the sound. Timelapse goes from 4 times to 1000 times, drops the frames in between so the file stays small, and removes the sound.
Why does slow motion look choppy?
The tool shows each original frame for longer; it does not invent new frames in between. A 30 fps video at 0.25 times plays as about 7 frames per second. Filming at 60 or 120 fps gives a smoother result.
Which formats are supported?
You can open MP4, MOV, WebM, and MKV files that your browser can play, and save the result as MP4 or WebM.
