How to save frames from a video
- Drop a video onto the box or choose one from your device.
- Pick what to extract: a frame every few seconds, every frame in a range, or a snapshot of the player.
- Choose JPG or PNG and a maximum width, then press Extract frames or Take snapshot.
- Download single images from the grid, or all of them as one ZIP.
Use the range handles to limit the extraction to the part you need. A frame every 10 seconds is a quick way to make a contact sheet of a long video.
Questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. Frames are decoded and saved as images inside this browser tab. Your video never leaves your device.
How do I get one exact frame?
Choose "Snapshot of the player", scrub the video to the moment you want (use the arrow keys on the player for small steps), and press Take snapshot. The image is saved at the video size or at the width you choose.
JPG or PNG?
JPG files are much smaller and fine for photos and thumbnails. PNG is lossless and better for screen recordings, text, and anything you will edit further, but files are several times larger.
Is there a limit on the number of images?
The tool makes up to 300 images at a time and stops early if they use too much memory. For longer videos, extract one range at a time and download the ZIP between runs.
Which videos work?
MP4, MOV, WebM, and MKV files that your browser can decode. Frames from a time range need the WebCodecs feature of current Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.
